As a teenager, I started practicing yoga to recover from a dance injury. Later, I decided to become a certified yoga teacher to supplement my career as a dance teacher. In 2005, I completed a 200-hour hatha yoga teacher training program with the Shambhava School of Yoga and began teaching yoga. During this training, I was introduced to a yogic lifestyle and learned the profound practice of meditation. My love for meditation and yogic practices led me to Naropa University. Between 2006 and 2013, I attended Naropa, an institution that draws inspiration from Buddhist contemplative education. During my time there, I earned an MA in Contemplative Education and a BFA in Performance and Traditional Eastern Arts, with a focus on Yoga Studies.
I am passionate about teaching embodied presence through movement, dance, and contemplative practices. I enjoy teaching various styles of yoga, including Yin, Hatha-Vinyasa, and Genital Yoga. My classes are inspired by the principles found in the Iyengar, Ashtanga-Vinyasa, and Shivananda schools of yoga, and the philosophical foundation of my teachings is rooted in the schools of thought associated with Kashmir Shaivism.
I work as a Physical Education and Wellness teacher at an independent elementary school located in Raleigh. When I'm not dancing, meditating, or practicing yoga, I enjoy spending time in nature. I feel honored and excited to be a part of this community, and I'm looking forward to practicing with you.
